Did you know that buried bodies don’t…? See more

Is cremation a sin? What the Bible really says about it.
For a long time, cremation has been a topic surrounded by fear, doubt, and strong opinions within the religious world. Some people grew up hearing phrases like:

Overcoming grief

But when one calmly examines what the Scriptures say, a reality emerges that surprises many:

👉The Bible never explicitly states that cremation is a sin.

In fact, much of the confusion stems more from historical customs and traditions than from direct biblical teachings.

The first thing to know: there is no clear prohibition.

This is the most important point of all.

Discover spiritual books.
Nowhere in the Bible is there a commandment that prohibits cremation after death.

There is no verse that says:

“Cremation is forbidden
,” “It’s a sin,”
“God rejects anyone who is cremated.”
And understanding this completely changes the game.

Many are discovering for the first time that the idea that cremation is “bad” does not necessarily come from the biblical text, but from religious interpretations and traditions developed over time.

So… why were almost all of them buried in the Bible?

Because, in ancient cultures, burial was the most common practice.

The Bible offers many examples:

Discover Books

Abraham buried Sarah,
Jacob was laid to rest,
Joseph requested that his remains be taken back to his homeland, and
Jesus was placed in a tomb after the crucifixion.
This is how burial became the traditional way to pay final respects to the deceased, first in  Judaism and then in  Christianity .

But here’s an important point:

👉Just because a practice is common does not mean it is mandatory.

The Bible describes many customs of the time without automatically turning them into universal commandments.

Indeed, there are cases of burned bodies in the Bible.
